Its been a huge week for Queensland and Brisbane in particular with around 15000 homes in Brisbane alone going underwater. I cant imagine how it would be to come back to your home and find all your life possessions wet and covered in sticky, slimy, brown mud.
An equally bad problem is that over 2500 businesses have the same fate awaiting them when the waters recede. In my opinion this is worse because it is peoples lively hood that is at risk. Its most probably small and medium business that will suffer the most as many cannot sustain long periods of time without income.
My heart goes out to those businesses affected.

Produce targeted traffic through exchanging links
Want to improve your website’s search engine rankings? Using Reciprocal Links as a means of helping your website to climb in the search engine rankings can be a very effective and inexpensive way to help your website achieve this. Developing quality inbound links is critical for search engine rankings, yet most webmasters do not really understand the basics behind good link building strategies.
How do normal non internet businesses get the word out about their product or service? Networking! Well the same principle holds true for the website of any business or organization, except it is called link building. Being successful on the Internet means having people find your website and for people to find it, it has to be “visible” in the major search engines and directories.
Building inbound links through a reciprocal link is a simple yet very powerful website promotional tool. If done correctly, increasing your linkage will:
- increase your traffic significantly
- improve your visibility in the search engines by raising your link popularity
- provide an added resource to your website
- save you a lot of advertising money
What Do I Need To Know to Get My Link Building Going?
- The sites that you want to exchange links with should have a similar theme or commodity or similar locations to you. That means that if your site is about a specific region then you should try to swap links with sites in that region. If your site is about widgets then you will get more credibility if another site about widgets swaps links with you.
- The link text should include your keywords. For example if I am seeking links for the website hosting part of my business I use something like Web Site Hosting Australia (The keywords link to the website) That way the search engine knows what the site is about and if someone types that phrase into the search engine it will match the link to your site.
- Create a special links page where you can put all the links and make sure that you put a link to it somewhere on the site otherwise the search engines wont give you credit for it.
- Spend an hour a week getting links to your site and you will see a great improvement in your rankings in no time.
If you want us to help or we have asked you for a link and you don’t know how to put the link onto your site please give us a call and we can help you to put the link up at no charge to you.
Your website should always be evolving to reflect the change in your business. There may be many simple changes you can make to your website to make it even more user friendly- all with no outlay by you.
- Keep the look of your text clean and simple. If you use a plain font with a base, your customers will find it easier to read. Decorative fonts can be harder to read and get lost in space.
- Focus on the needs of your clients. Use lots of words like YOU and YOUR in your text. Your clients will find it much more interesting.
- Use an effective heading. Research has shown that using a bold, well-worded heading is very effective. You want to get your prospective clients attention as quickly as possible. Be aware of your target audience and their preferences. Also use sub headings. Sub headings can help your prospective client find the information they are looking for quickly. If a client has to spend too much time looking for information, they will go somewhere else.
- Include lots of contact options. Your clients like to know they can get in touch with you easily.
- Use key word rich text. Make sure the text content of your website is key word rich. This relates directly to the words your prospective clients type into their browser when they are doing a search on the Internet. Once you have identified the key words people are searching on, you can then incorporate these key words into the text content of your website.
These changes may seem fairly obvious, but you would be surprised how many website owners fail to regularly review their website content.
An extra tip – keep your navigation simple. The easier it is for people to find their way around your site the better your results.
It is worth taking the time to constantly review your website. Build on the parts that work for you and change the parts that dont. There are many other strategies you can employ to enhance your websites performance. The above ideas are a good starting place.
